WHO WE ARE

The Villa Maria Mothers and Fathers' Guild has been in existence for more than 30 years. We are a parent organization consisting of an executive board and members at large, many of whom volunteer at Guild events and school activities. Our monthly meetings are open to all parents.

OUR OBJECTIVES

  • Promote community spirit among parents, teachers, students and administration.
  • Throughout the year, organize events that bring parents and students together for fun, sharing and fund-raising.
  • Reward top-ranking students and those who are most improved with awards, bursaries and scholarships.
  • Help purchase items on teachers' wish lists and/or help finance field trips, workshops and events.

HOW WE ARE FINANCED

We are financed by a voluntary membership fee of $25 per family.

EVENTS & INVOLVEMENT

PARENT INFORMATION EVENING

Executives of the Mothers and Fathers' Guild attend this event to promote our activities to parents of new students.

HARVEST WELCOMING

Held on a fall Sunday afternoon, Harvest Welcoming gives Villa Maria families and students an opportunity to meet each other, staff and members of the Administration. Baked goods are kindly donated by families attending the event.

OPEN HOUSE

Mothers and Fathers' Guild members help administrators welcome visitors and promote our activities.

HOLIDAY BAKE SALE AND RAFFLE

Villa Maria parents are asked to contribute either baked goods or raffle prizes. Volunteers then sell these goods and raffle tickets to students, parents and staff.

TEACHER APPRECIATION

Executives of the Mothers and Fathers’ Guild provide and serve a late lunch/early dinner to teachers and members of the Administration. Volunteers help to collect other donated baked goods, savory treats and coffee/tea from Villa Maria parents for this event in order to show our appreciation.

VISITORS' DAY

Volunteers help by serving lunch and refreshments to future Villa Maria students.

GRAD TEA

This event allows graduates to mingle and reminisce with school staff. Each graduating student receives a special gift from the Guild to commemorate their time at Villa Maria. Guild members serve the graduating students a light meal and an assortment of tasty sweets.

USED BOOK AND UNIFORM SALE / ONLINE USED BOOK SALE

At the end of the school year, parents of current students can bring in school books for sale on consignment. Mothers and Fathers' Guild volunteers are needed to set up the room, consign books and help with the sale. At the end of the used book sale, volunteers help take inventory for the online sale of used books to parents or students who were unable to attend the actual sale.
