Our Philosophy
As every aspect of our lives moves deeper into the digital age, it is Villa Maria’s mission to train and facilitate our students in the safe, ethical and responsible use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a school-wide learning environment where students regularly interact with various elements and uses of ICT as part of their daily learning experience. As students advance through their studies at Villa Maria they will develop a broad mastery of technical skills, a foundational technical knowledge base, and the critical and higher order thinking skills necessary to navigate successfully their way through the challenges and opportunities of the new digital age.
Our Mission
Villa Maria does not approach the development and implementation of ICT skills as a discreet subject but rather as a range of tools that teachers and students can use to achieve a deeper and more complex understanding of larger pedagogical outcomes. By providing opportunities for every teacher to integrate ICT into their learning plans, our education community has embraced the diverse uses of ICT as powerful opportunities to enhance learning.
We do this by providing every student with multiple opportunities to work with a variety of digital data-bases, electronic research tools, educational multimedia programs, computer-mediated communication tools, productivity and presentation software, digital recording equipment, and digital editing software, and the ongoing professional development and support for our teaching staff.
