In keeping with the latest innovations which are an essential part of the educational process, Villa Maria has acquired a state-of-the-art multimedia center. This outstanding learning environment includes a fully-equipped video studio complemented by eight editing and production suites where students use powerful computers and professional-quality equipment to create multimedia presentations.
Students have access to these studios during school hours, either with the multimedia teacher or any other teacher involved in multi-discipline projects. Students can also come and work in these rooms at lunchtime or after school, until 4:30 pm.
At Villa Maria, students learn basic skills such as how to use video cameras and microphones, how to download information, and how to set up a presentation with the sophisticated software used in graphic design according to the latest industry standards. They have an opportunity to create websites, magazines and documentary videos.
Students can delight in multimedia projects as an outlet for their creative imagination. When they work in teams, they are connected by a common language, and common goals. The multimedia department offers its services to students, teachers, and all other personnel - be it for teaching needs, extra-curricular activities, talent shows, plays or concerts.
At graduation, students will have mastered the basic concepts connected to the multimedia world. In CEGEP, they will already be familiar with the software and tools which are the norm should they wish to further their studies in graphic arts, communications, multimedia or other connected areas of learning.
