Mentorship Program

As part of the integration of profiles in its curriculum, Villa Maria is proud to introduce its new mentoring program for all Secondary 3 to 5 students. The purpose of this program is to provide a one-on-one relationship between two individuals: the mentor, who is experienced and knowledgeable in a certain field, and the student, who is younger and is searching for guidance in that particular domain.

Through this program, the mentor will provide support, structure and real-life experiences to each student, and equip them with knowledge to which he/she might not be exposed in the classroom.

As of Secondary 3, each student will have to find a mentor and, ideally, maintain this relationship for the entire course of the three-year program. Each mentee will have to report to a mentoring coordinator who will be responsible for approving the mentor chosen by your child and follow up on their mentoring sessions.

Here is an outline of the student’s responsibilities during the course of the program:

  • Clearly identify their needs and expectations with the mentor
  • Participate actively in planned meetings with the mentor
  • Be responsive to advice and feedback from the mentor
  • Work actively to achieve the objectives previously set in the context of their studies and aspirations

Here is an outline of the 3-year program expectations:

  • Secondary 3: 1 meeting with the mentor and written reflection
  • Secondary 4: 2 meetings with the mentor and written reflection
  • Secondary 5: 2 meetings with the mentor and final project

We are proud of this new program, which promises to be a rewarding experience for both students and mentors.
