Honours Program

At Villa Maria, we seek to foster the academic, personal and social development of our students.

To this end, we are introducing an Honours Program which that will enable students who wishing to enrich their studies to take additional credits recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEES). These additional credits will appear on the student’s’ report card.

The Honours Program and its extra-credit courses will be offered to your child as of the Fall of the 2018-2019 school year. These are additional classes that will be given after regular school hours, i.e. from 3:10 to 4:10 p.m. The potential courses offered could potentially include classes like Robotics, Spanish, Pre-Calculus, etc.

Each course will consist of three one-hour classes per nine-day cycle, for the duration of the school year. You will be informed of related costs once the list of extra-credit courses becomes available during the pre-registration period for the 2018-2019 school year.

Students who, during the course of their academic journey, complete three extra-credit courses and maintain an overall average of 80%, will receive have the distinction of having graduated with honours. This will be noted on their diplomas and these students will also wear a distinctive honours cord on their graduation gown.
