Technological Support for Parents & Students

Villa Maria understands that with the benefits associated with leveraging technology in education come challenges, and that both parents and students may need assistance in this area. With this in mind, the school has put several measures in place to provide technological support and guidance to both parents and students.

Throughout August, Villa Maria will be hosting iPad configuration sessions for students and parents to ensure iPads are properly configured for use at Villa Maria. Parents can sign up for these clinics below.

Each fall the school hosts a technology themed evening. These presentations are designed to provide parents with information and resources.

Villa Maria offers a course on technology and digital citizenship into the school curriculum. At the junior level, students learn how to use their iPads as a learning tool and explore technologies such as coding, robotics and sound editing. The course also focuses heavily on digital citizenship and online safety. It promotes online safety and teaches students about the benefits and responsibilities that come with being a digital citizen.

Parental Controls

As a cornerstone of our technology-enhanced curriculum, Villa Maria requires each student to have their own iPad. To manage them all, tie things together, and activate Apple Classroom here at the School, we’re proudly using the Mosyle Manager MDM.

We understand that parents can worry about how much time their kids spend using screens. With the ScreenGuide app, parents can easily manage devices at home. They can set parental controls and configure rules for the safe, educational and fun use of tablets and smartphones, while minimizing potential risks such as cyberbullying, inappropriate content consumption, and excessive screen time.

To set up and start managing your child’s device(s), please download the ScreenGuide app and follow the instructions found here: http://screen.guide/school/A1040
