At a time when the education sector is marked by technological change, we would like to help parents and the community to understand these changes and the implications.

Thierry Karsenti, author of the book “The iPad at Schoolʺ, will present an overview of teens use of technologies and social media and will make recommendations to parents.

  • What is the role of new technologies for Generation Z?
  • What are the main advantages of one-on-one environments?
  • What are the main challenges of one-on-one environments?
  • How can you help your child use technologies for learning?
  • What is a safe technological environment?

Student demonstrations of iPad use and a question and answer period will follow the meeting.

About the speaker

Thierry Karsenti, M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D, holds the Canada Research Chair on information and communication technologies in education. The Canada Research Chair Program stands at the centre of a national strategy to make Canada one of the world’s top countries in research and development. Mr. Karsenti’s accomplishments and techno-pedagogical innovations for both open and distance learning have received recognition at the provincial and national levels.

Your child will be given the following tests: mathematics, composition in English and French, as well as an English or French reading comprenhension test, depending on the sector she/he registered for.
